Do you want to make a dog toy that is educational, fun, and rewarding for your dog?  This DIY dog toy/game is a simple concept and very easy to make.   All you need are the following four items that you may already have lying around your house:

  • 1 Empty plastic bottle (a drink bottle or 2 liter soda bottle will do just fine)
    • Remove any paper or glue
    • A clear plastic bottle is best to use but not required
  • 1 wooden stick (Approximately 2 feet in length. Use something like a broom stick handle).
  • Scissors
  • Small dog treats
  • Ruler

Step 1: Use the ruler to measure the diameter of the stick.  If you are using something like an old broom handle, it is likely 1-2 inches in diameter.

Step 2: Cut two holes on opposite sides of the plastic bottle (the body cylinder section) – they must be cut across from each other and will be the diameter you just measured.   You will then slide the stick through these holes.

Step 3: Place dog treats in the plastic bottle.  The treats should be small enough that they can slide out of the neck/mouth of the bottle.

Step 4: Place the stick to something that gives enough room for the bottle to be moved easily by your dog.  For example, place it on two chairs, but you will have to put books or weights on both sides of the stick to hold it in place.  Placement of the dog toy will vary depending on the size of your dog.  You can even choose to make a type of stand that holds the stick in place.

The toy will look similar to this:  The stick is represented as the horizontal line.  The plastic bottle is attached with treats inside.

That’s all it takes to create this mind stimulating dog toy!  Your dog will have fun while using his or her brain to figure out how to spin the bottle and get the delicious treats to fall out.

Thanks for sharing such great article about dogs. The social adaptations of cats and humans are similar enough that dogs can live perfectly happy lives surrounded by humans and vice versa. Pets are pampered with the best of food and medical care, frequently have a rest in their owners’ comfortable sofa.Do you have any other articles about pets?
